Our History

The Church of Christ can trace its history to the Day of Pentecost in 33 A.D. when the apostles were congregated in the city of Jerusalem, just a few days after Jesus Christ promised to build his church. Brother Marshall Keeble came to Valdosta in the early part of 1930. He preached under a tent and baptized 163 individuals. He returned the next year and baptized 166 more precious souls.

Establishing the Church of Christ among African-Americans for the first time in this area. On December 8, 1988, the Lake Park Road Church of Christ met for the first time. That building burned and the Church met in the Masonic Hall until the leadership was able to locate and purchase the current property at 1414 and 1416 West Hill Avenue. The Church grew rapidly and many souls were baptized.

It is inspiring to see the number of persons that have obeyed the gospel since 1988 We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that he must be obeyed. We of His will for our lives through the Bible, God's inspired, written word. We are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 5:8), and that salvation is available to us because of the shed blood of our Savior Jesus Christ.

One becomes a Christian by believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (Acts 2:37; 8:12; 8:37), repenting of past sins (Acts 2:38; 11:18), confessing faith in Christ (Acts 2:38; 8:37;9:5), and being baptized into Christ (Acts 2:38, 41; 8:12; 16:33; 22:16).Through this an experience of being ''born again'', God adds us to His church (Acts 2:47). It begins the life-long journey of ''walking in the light'' of fellowship with Christ and our brothers and sisters in Christ (1 John 1:7).
